"FINDING OUR VOICES" DOCUMENTARY PRODUCERS URGE MONITORING OF LAME DUCK BUSH PRESIDENCY

WASHINGTON, DC. A new grassroots effort is aimed at keeping an eye on President Bush’s lame duck administration during its final weeks. This “Lame Duck Watchdog Initiative” is spearheaded by the producers of “Finding Our Voices”, an award-winning documentary about the value of peaceful dissent in our democracy. Their video dramatically illustrates one of President-elect Barack Obama's themes, "Your voice can change the world."

Recently, The Huffington Post, The Rachel Maddow Show, The Nation magazine, and others have discussed the potential dangers of the lame duck Bush administration quietly initiating highly politicized policies before Barack Obama's inauguration as President on January 20th. The producers of “Finding Our Voices”, who are dedicated to good government from the bottom up, viewed these dangers as an excellent opportunity to apply the dissent principles of their film and energize concerned Americans.

The “Lame Duck Watchdog Initiative” is encouraging everyone to send e-mails to their Congressmen, demanding continuous oversight of the Bush administration. This is the first of many initiatives envisioned by the film’s producers who support the “change” and “empowerment” messages espoused by Barack Obama throughout his presidential campaign.

Narrated by Martin Sheen, “Finding Our Voices” is a moving documentary about eight determined individuals (“The Voices”) who have courageously protested the war in Iraq. They include a minister, Congressman, diplomat, peace activist, two parents who lost their sons in Iraq and 9/11, and two Iraq war veterans.

Executive Producer Holly Stadtler, President of Dream Catcher Films, said “Finding Our Voices” is a powerful educational film about preserving democracy and the importance of citizen dissent to our nation’s future. She views this five-year project as an inspirational and training film that will have an impact well beyond the departure of President Bush and the end of the Iraq War. Stadtler, a former Production Manager for NBC Nightly News and the Today Show, and her talented associates have produced acclaimed videos for National Geographic TV, BBC, PBS, and the Discovery and Learning Channel networks.

Stadtler suggests that the “Finding Our Voices” DVD is a meaningful “holiday gift of Democracy” for all age groups. The DVD also includes extended interviews with “the Voices” and Cindy Sheehan, Directors’ comments, a Resource Guide, and discussion materials.
